newvista – Frequently Asked Questions

01. What is newvista?

The newvista panel is an online research community that provides informed insight to clients and is made up of consumers and other members of public who are invited to take part in research projects in exchange for rewards.

02. Can anyone join newvista?

Any UK resident aged 16 or over, who is not employed by or otherwise affiliated with newvista, and who does not work in Market Research or Marketing can register to join the newvista panel.

03. How does it work?

For each survey you complete in full you will be awarded a set number of points. (See “How much do I earn for each survey?”)
Once you have reached a current balance of 5,000 points, you can choose a voucher worth £50.

04. I want to change my email address how do I do that?

Please email us with your old and new email address and we will update this for you.

05. How do I register?

Registering on newvista couldn’t be easier! To register, head to the newvista website (www.newvistalive.com) and click on the new member registration link. Follow the on screen instructions. The registration process is easy and will only take a short time to complete.

06. Why do I need to register?

Taking a few minutes to register tells us that you have “opted-in” to receive emails regarding upcoming surveys and other research projects. It also gives you access to a personal account on the newvista community where you can take part in research activities and keep track of your points.

07. How much does it cost to register?

Nothing – registration is free! Newvista does not charge for joining and there are NO annual membership or administration fees.

08. Do I have to do all the surveys or other types of research activities?

Participation in any newvista survey or activity is entirely voluntary. You can complete as many or as few surveys as you want, and take part in as many or as few research activities as you like. Although the more times you take part the more points you can earn.

09. How many surveys and other activities can I participate in?

You can participate in as many as you like of the surveys or other research activities we run, as long as you are invited to take part and are eligible (though each survey / activity can only be completed once).
Participation in one activity does not automatically prejudice you from participating in another activity running at the same time. The only exception to this is when specific restrictions are requested by the company / client initiating the research.

10. How long are surveys and other activities?

Different surveys and activities will run for different lengths of time, so it’s best to participate early in order to avoid disappointment. Once a project is closed, or when enough people with a certain profile have taken part, the survey or activity will no longer be available.
There is no set amount of surveys you will receive in any given time period, nor is there a set number of planned activities. Panellists who are eligible for a survey or activity are selected at random – you may receive many invites in quick succession or, similarly, you may go a while without receiving one.

11. Do your surveys have quality control checks?

Yes, in order to ensure you give careful consideration to each question before responding there are quality control checks built into all of our surveys.
Points will not be accredited to your account if your answers are inconsistent or illogical or if a minimum amount of time has not been spent taking part in a survey.
These inbuilt, pre-defined quality control questions appear on every survey and are administered to everyone equally. If you fail these quality control checks on three different surveys in a calendar year, you will be unsubscribed from the newvista panel and you will forfeit any points that may have been added to your account.
In other words, if you click through surveys quickly and randomly you won’t receive any points and you may even be removed from the panel.

12. What should I do if I can’t access a survey?

If you can’t access a survey for any reason (e.g. getting security warnings from your browser, being asked for authentication, etc.), try copying the survey link and pasting it directly into your browser.
If that does not help, please send us an email at info@newvistalive.com providing as much detail as possible including which browser you were using and a copy of the survey link you were trying to access.

13. Can I access and complete a survey using my mobile?

Yes! One of the new features of newvista is the ability to take part in a survey or other research activity on the go from your mobile!
Please note: newvista is not responsible for any data use charges associated with using your mobile for a survey or any other activity. You should reference your mobile phone provider contract for any questions involving data usage.

14. What is the information I provide in surveys and other research activities used for?

All surveys are conducted under the MRS code of Conduct. Survey results are used for research purposes only and you will not receive any communication from third party organisations as the results are only ever presented as average scores (e.g. ‘8 out of 10 people in the UK’ are happy with their current job), unless you explicitly opt in to do so.

15. What happens to all my answers?

Your answers will be pooled with all the other responses to the survey and analysed as average scores. Often these results are published in the national press or reported on current affairs programmes.

16. How many points do I earn for each survey or other research activity?

The number of points you earn for each project will depend upon the average length of time it takes to complete a questionnaire or other research activity.
On average, newvista awards 100 points for every 15 minutes you spend completing any given research project, provided the survey or other research activity is completed accurately and in full, and takes an acceptable amount of time to complete based on the average length of completion time (e.g. you wouldn’t be able to complete a 20 minute survey in less than 5 minutes!).
However, the amount earned can vary depending on the complexity and/or need for respondents. The number of points specified on each survey or research activity is FINAL and cannot be changed or negotiated.

17. What is shown on my account homepage?

The new website will show you what is happening on newvista and your current points balance and survey history.

18. When are points added to my account?

Your points are credited to your online account usually within one month of completing the survey or activity. This may vary at times and it may take as little as one day or as long as three months depending on the type of research activity.

19. When will I be able to claim my reward?

Once you have accumulated 5,000 points, you can choose a voucher worth £50. Thereafter, with each 5,000 points you accumulate you can choose a new £50 voucher.

20. How does the payment process work?

Only once you have reached the 5,000 reward point marker you will be eligible to use your 5,000 points for a voucher worth £50.
We do carry out random quality checks, and there might be times that your voucher requests will require internal checks and approvals. Please check your details prior to claiming to help with this process.
Please also note that your account will only be credited with points earned on a survey that has been fully completed within the guidelines listed above (e.g. you have not failed quality control checks and you have spent the correct amount of time on any given activity).

21. Can I change my details?

Yes, of course. Just click on the ‘Update Profile’ link on your newvista homepage to update your username, email or password or change your photo.
If we you want to check or change the address we have for you, click on the Contact details profiler on the home page.
We encourage you to keep your details fully up to date and complete all the profiler sections available on your account page. This ensures you are eligible and get to be invited to surveys and other research activities as often as possible, and you lower your chances of being screened out or sent irrelevant surveys.

22. How do I close my account / unsubscribe?

You may close your account at any time by emailing us with your request at info@newvistalive.com or clicking the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the page (this will be available once you have registered and logged in).
